For TV lovers in the UK: who to follow in Twitter.

Posted by haynhi on 28/10/2009

From The Guardian:

Twitter for TV lovers: who to followFrom Armando Iannucci and Graham Linehan to Mathew Horne and Katy Brand, Tim Lusher picks out the best TV folk to follow

Full story here.

Jonathan Ross @wossy – Much of what the chatshow host shares with his 434,000 followers is predictably about films and his TV guests, but his always upbeat thread also gives a sweet-natured insight into his home life: dodging his kids’ difficult homework questions, waking up to find the dogs asleep on his head or wondering how to dress for their walkies (“Ralph Lauren or Lady Gaga?”).

Armando Iannucci @alannucci – The comedy genius behind The Thick of It has been busy posting trailers and teasers for the latest series of the political satire, as well as sharing his views with nearly 25,000 followers: he’s “incalculably depressed” at the thought of a Cameron government, and thinks the “gob-hammeringly insensitive” Ben Bradshaw proves we are entering “the Dawn of the UberTwat”. TTOI fans will be glad to know that the cast and writers of the show are big Twitterers. Junior adviser Ollie Reeder, aka @mrchrisaddison, is consistently funny (“Ikea. Sunday. I am full of meatballs and loathing”), as is “swearing consultant” @ianmartin. You can also follow @rebeccafront, who plays new minister Nicola Murray, and writers @jessearmstrong1 and @simonblackwell.

And in this recession, even the ‘six billion dollar’ porn industry is hurt. CNN reports.

‘Why Email No Longer Rules… ‘

Posted by haynhi on 14/10/2009

By JESSICA E. VASCELLARO

Email has had a good run as king of communications. But its reign is over.

In its place, a new generation of services is starting to take holdservices like Twitter and Facebook and countless others vying for a piece of the new world. And just as email did more than a decade ago, this shift promises to profoundly rewrite the way we communicatein ways we can only begin to imagine.

We all still use email, of course. But email was better suited to the way we used to use the Internet—logging off and on, checking our messages in bursts. Now, we are always connected, whether we are sitting at a desk or on a mobile phone. The always-on connection, in turn, has created a host of new ways to communicate that are much faster than email, and more fun.

If you want to make international calls for free from the UK, now you can. At the moment it’s only available on Three.

All you need to do is go to http://www.three.co.uk and request your free sim cards if you already have a 3G phone and then install skype.

Even better, if you join via this page, they’ll give you an extra 2 pounds and me 5 pounds.

If you don’t have a 3G phone, Three is selling and they cost around 49 pounds with 10 pound credit included.

Once you’ve activated your sim, just use your mobile internet to go to three.co.uk website and click on the ‘skype’ symbol to download and install skype. If you buy Three phone, it’s already installed.

Then go and creat a skype account if you don’t already have one. Then tell your friend your skype ID and now they can ring you anytime and you can pick up the call anywhere.

Every time you top up by 10 pounds you’ll get free 3 to 3 calls plus 150MB of internet mobile which they said was enough for you to check Facebook 100 times a day.
